Whitewater Rafting on the Ayung
River
This
pioneer rafting trip of Bali is where adventure started with Sobek
in 1989. Always a spectacular river, its wild thrills unfold from
the moment you push off from the riverbank.
Ayung's class II & III rapids wind through a deeply carved valley
with towering waterfalls and enormous cliffs of prehistoric times.
Tropical jungle shadows shimmer on river pools, then white water
once more breaks th serenity of this environment.
Your pre-departure briefing prepares yo and your friends for the
coming excitement and Bali's most professional guides make it easier
than you thought it could possibly be.
Keep your eyes open along the way for the occasional glimpse of
brilliant blue Javan kingfishers or lazy lizards sunning on rocks.
At intervals, openings in the jungle expose shrines, festively decorated
on special days with offerings. Then suddenly the Ayung propels
you into yet another rapid.
Following the hectic fun and discovery, step from your raft at the
finish point into a natural bamboo shower. Fresh towels and a bountiful
buffet lunch await at Sobek's terraced riverside restaurant.
The Spirit of Adventure on the Telaga Waja
Your Telaga Waja adventure starts in East Bali
below Mount Agung. A thorough briefing on rafting techniques and
safety procedures prepares you. The drop into the first rapid sets
the scene for the highest continuous section of raftable river in
Bali.
Rush past steep banks and overhanging trees in a flurry of white
water below the misty downpour of natural waterfalls.
Follow the instructions of your professional guide. Enjoy the challenges
that keep adrenalin high throughout the first part of this journey.
Eventually narrow gorges and steep canyons give away to terraced
plains where village children play on the riverbank and local farmerswork
in their fields.
At the finish point enjoy a shower, generous Buffet lunch and one
of Bali's most magnificent rural views from our ridge-top restaurant.

CYCLING TOURS
The
great thing about the Batur Cycling is that it's virtually all down
hill. The Southern two thirds of Bali is one big downhill slope,
falling away from the mountains in the north, quickly at first and
the gradually ....
Escape from the heat of the tourist center to the cooler climates
of Bali's mountain region. Take in the sights of Bali with a downhill
adventure on one of SOBEK's cycling tours.
Batur Trail
Using new mountain bikes and safety equipment, the downhill trail
from Mount Batur will lead you through sleepy villages along little-used
roads and tracks. Frequent stops along the way will give you the
opportunity to visit temples, plantations and villages that offer
an insight into Bali that is not commonly seen. All our guides come
from the surrounding regions and are trained to entertain and educate
with a broad depth of knowledge in Balinese culture and lifestyle.
If you only do one tour whilst in Bali, this is the one, packed
with interest, education and fun.
Batukaru Trail
For those wishing to travel through slightly more remote and adventurous
terrain, SOBEK offers a tour three time a week through the central
Batu Karu plain, offering spectacular views where rice terraces
stretch as far as the eye can see. Travel through this rich heartland
of Bali on small roads and jungle treks, again learning about the
culture plant life and farming methods as you go. Following the
combination of road and off-road riding, the tour finishes perfectly
with lunch at a local hot spring. |
